Tournament ends one day early

July 26, 2014

Sasha lost his semifinal singles match today 3-6, 5-7. He played well against a young very talented Canadian. He and Michael lost in the doubles final 5-7, 1-6. I’ll write more about the tournament and what’s next on the flight to the east coast tomorrow. Overall this was a good event for Sasha and gave us a good base to start the hardcourt season.

Weather delays again today

But matches will be later outside!

Some indoor tennis today

July 24, 2014

The weather did not cooperate today. This was always schedule as a day off in singles for Sasha today. When an ITF schedules a 6 day format at a 32 or 48 draw event, players get a day off at some point during the week. In this case, the referee scheduled the round of 16 to be split over 2 days since they knew Wednesday would bring some rain. All play was moved indoors this morning. Sasha and his dubs partner won their match straightforwardly 6-2, 6-1 to give them a place in the semi finals.

Tomorrow he will play his quarter final match in singles and semis in doubles. The weather is supposed to be overcast but not much rain is forecast.

Won singles and doubles today

July 23, 2014

Sasha won both his singles match 6-4, 6-4 and his doubles 6-2, 6-2 today. Tomorrow we only have doubles and may play indoors as rain is predicted for the entire day.

Must be time to update things again!!!

July 22, 2014

Hello again to everyone who follows us around virtually!!!

Sasha and I met up in Florida and began training again after five weeks off. Sasha finished his junior school year and will start senior year in Sept. He ended his very demanding junior year with a 4.45 weighted GPA.

We were in Delray Beach practicing at ProWorld. We transitioned back to hard courts (harder on the body but more conducive to Sasha’s game). Last Saturday we traveled to Vancouver BC and resumed our ITF schedule. Sasha is the number 1 seed here. He won his first round match yesterday 6-1, 6-4. He played well in his first ITF match back. He plays another singles match today as well as first round doubles. He is playing doubles with Michael Genender at this event. Tomorrow will be a day off for singles

It is absolutely beautiful here. We have an apartment with a great view and with great access to good markets. We had some time yesterday after the match so we took a boat ride. It was absolutely beautiful and led to some good pictures of course. :). So now everyone’s favorites, the picture links.
